KARACHI: Changes have been made to the school timings in Sindh by the education department due to the cold weather prevailing in the province. The Education Secretary ordered extending the morning session for primary, middle, high, and higher secondary schools by half an hour, starting at 8:30 am. This adjusted schedule will be in place until January 31, 2024.
In Karachi, the coldest morning of 2024 was recorded with a minimum temperature of 14°C, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The Met Department attributed the temperature drop in Karachi to northeast winds at a speed of eight kilometers per hour.
The Met Office has forecast light rain in Karachi today, and due to a stable atmosphere, dense foggy conditions are expected to persist over Punjab, including Islamabad, the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.
Additionally, a rain-bearing westerly system is anticipated to enter Balochistan on January 4th (today) and may impact parts of Balochistan until January 5th, 2024.
